...Our Love Story...

from pandemic dating to forever

A Digital Connection

In the midst of a global pandemic, fate brought us together on a dating site. Despite the unusual circumstances, our virtual connection sparked something special.

Our first date was at a charming restaurant called the Victorian Monkey, which Ehi picked out. When it came time to order, Ehi decided we should share a poutine. Remember, this was the peak of the pandemic, and I thought, “This girl has no fear” But I shared it with her anyways, and from that moment on, I knew she was someone special.

Who would have thought that amidst the chaos of 2020, we'd find each other and embark on a journey that would change our lives forever?

Love Takes Flight in Niagara

With a touch of spontaneity and a dash of miscommunication, we embarked on our first trip together to Niagara. Well, technically, it was supposed to be Niagara-on-the-Lake, but thanks to Ehi's adventurous spirit and a slight mix-up in bookings, we found ourselves at an Airbnb in Niagara Falls instead. Throughout the trip, the running joke was how we ended up in the wrong Niagara. But amidst the laughter, something magical happened. Over a romantic dinner at Liv restaurant, Andrew finally said the three magic words. Even though I had already said them a few months earlier, hearing them from him in such a beautiful setting definitely made the moment special and unforgettable.

Merging Lives & Families

As our love deepened, so did our commitment to each other. In 2022, we took a significant step forward by merging not just our lives but also our families. And by families, we mean our beloved pets – Biscuit, Bruin, and Zephyr. Our furry companions quickly became an integral part of our bond, adding an extra layer of joy and laughter to our everyday lives.

A Proposal Worth Waiting For

Amidst the holiday cheer and twinkling lights, our love story took an unexpected turn on December 3rd. After another one of our countless date nights, I had no idea Andrew had a surprise up his sleeve.

As I diligently worked on piecing together the wooden box to enclose our Christmas tree's legs, Andrew went to the basement to fetch the decorations. Or so I thought. Little did I know, he was actually setting up a grand proposal. As Ehi focused on her task, I hurriedly began setting up the stage for the proposal. Over the last couple of weeks, I had stealthily purchased bottles of wine from each country we’ve visited and put together a slideshow of all our trips and memories. I placed the bottles of wine on the table, put out some wine glasses, and set up the slideshow. I got down on one knee and waited, and waited, and waited for Ehi to turn around. She was so engulfed in putting the darn box together, she had no clue anything was happening in the background. I wasn’t sure how to get her to turn around, so I resigned my fate to kneeling there forever.

Finally, with the box complete, I turned around to find Andrew on one knee, holding a box with a ring in it. Even though I suspected a proposal was coming, the moment still caught me off guard, filling me with overwhelming joy and emotion.

We shared the news with our families, basking in the glow of our love. The evening ended with us cozy and happy, watching the slideshow of our pictures. And true to form, after all the excitement, I fell asleep, leaving Andrew to marvel at the magic of the moment and the love that brought us here.

Our journey from pandemic dating to this milestone has been an adventure filled with laughter, love, and the occasional travel mix-up. Now, as we step into forever, we do so with hearts full of love, laughter, and excitement for all the adventures ahead.
